Walk through Index, Jump to the spot you need help with.
This walk through assumes you have the book that goes with the game and have read it.
Goal: Free all the Wolfen, find Frank and the 7 runes then beat Brazul so you and Frank can return home.
Characters:
Kya: The main character, whom you play.
Frank: Kya’s brother, they were separated going thru the portal.
Brazul: The mysterious man who created the evil Wolfen Army.
Nativs: The original creatures of this parallel universe. These are the creatures Brazul captures and uses to create his Wolfen Army.
Atea: The ‘Wise Man’ of the Nativs, something of a leader. He gives you guidance and will help you return home after you find all the ruin pieces.
Aton: The first Nativ that helped you escape at the start of the game, he also offers advice and helps you in certain areas of the game. Aton is identifiable by his white hair and he talks to you more than other nativs.
Other Nativs: As you battle and free the Wolfen, they return (as Nativs) to Nativ City and build shops where they sell you the items you need to complete the game. Each shop requires a certain number of Nativs to be released from the Evil Spell (the number of Nativs required per shop can be seen on the map screen). You need these shops to open so you can purchase items that you will need to complete the game. Get every native you come across.
Wolfen: These are actually nativs turned mean by Brazul via a spell. He uses them as his ‘army’ and workers. They are one of your 3 main goals. You need to knock them out and exorcise the evil out of them so they can return to Nativ City and build shops for you. There are several different levels of Wolfen. The book shows some of them but you will get use to them as you play. At first you encounter rather easy Wolfen. Not to smart and not to hard to knock out. As you progress the Wolfen get harder to beat (and require more mana to exorcise). It’s a good idea to get the bracelets as soon as you can. The more bracelets you have the easier they are to fight – some you can’t beat without certain bracelets.
Nooties: This is what passes as money. You can collect nooties in a variety of places. The little green spikey toad things and some other creatures sometimes give you a nootie (or more) when you kill them, boxes often have nooties in them and you can also find them hidden in other areas such as caves.
Mana: Green floating balls. This is required to free the Wolfen (and turn them back into Nativs) and is also needed to open the Shell Elevators when you find them and regenerate your own health when you are away from Nativ City. When you find something that requires mana a number will float in some blue smoke above the item telling you how many mana balls are required. It’s a good idea to keep this as full as. The only thing requiring mana that doesn’t tell you how much are the scattered amber crystals that you use to restore your health. Only the Nativ City one doesn’t require mana to restore.
Receptacle: The first thing you need to find. It’s basically a belt buckle but it allows you to get the runes. You can’t get them – even if you find them – without it. As this is your first mission, your map will be marked to show you where the rune is located. You just need to make your way there, and free a few Wolfen along the way. Hint: you will need your magic board before beginning this journey.
Runes: These are harder to find and you must have the receptacle to collect them before you even try. There is one Rune in each land. Once you get the receptacle the rune locations will be marked on your map. When you are near a rune they’re pretty obvious. They are gigantic blue/black/purple glowing balls. A side benefit of the additional runes is increase mana capacity. You start with a max of 50 mana that you can carry, each rune adds 50 to that number. So after your first rune you will be able to carry 100, 2nd = 150, and so on up to 500. You will note that there are 2 areas that require a certain number of mana to open. One in Nativ City (a mini game) requires 100 and one in another domain requires 350.
Shell Elevators / World Elevator: The main mode of transport for the nativs, besides walking. You will come across these on your adventures. Brazul closed the whole system down long ago – it’s up to you to open it back up. You need to use mana to open the elevator door (shell) the first time, after that they remain open and you can travel back to Nativ City or to any other elevator on that particular system. They are easy to identify – they look like the top half of a clam shell, closed, with a floating number above indicating the amount of mana required to open (usually 3). While the World Elevator connects you to all of the shell elevators but shell elevators only travel to Nativ City and to other shell elevators (once opened) within that domain.
Boomies: There are 3 types of boomies in this game, each one has unique abilities and each will be required in turn to go past certain points in the game. These should be purchased as soon as possible. When purchased the new abilities are just added to the old.
Bracelets: Each bracelet adds to your combat ability. You get the first one (white) when Atea and friends teach you to fight. The rest you have to buy. Each bracelet adds to your attack abilities (new moves). Once you get a new one you should return to the training area to practice the new moves. The instructions are also available by viewing Kya’s items; highlight the bracelet and hit ‘X’ to review. The last 2 bracelets increase your power. There are 9 bracelets to purchase. Note, when fighting the Wolfen change up your attacks. If you use the same one over and over they will block you and take No damage.
Bombs: There are 2 types of bombs you can buy; trap and an electrical bomb. The trap bombs are necessary to capture the animals for the zoo (a challenge). And the electric are necessary later in the game.
Fruits: There are 3 fruits available. Invincibility, life and something else. You can try them if you like, I didn’t need them once. I tried the invincibility on the dog and it didn’t work.
1) ROOTS: Goal = Start game Items needed = nothing
Watch a movie showing Kya in her bedroom, she gets spooked and ends up finding Frank in a secret room downstairs that belonged to Kya’s father before he disappeared. They notice that the room was sealed from the inside. Frank finds, and activates, a strange looking disk on a box. This disk opens a portal in the wall which promptly sucks in Kya and Frank. Kya wakes up to see strange creatures looking at her and talking... then faints. They wake her up again and warn her to follow them…
Here’s where you take over, follow the one with the white hair (Aton) – watch the others, they show you what will happen if you don’t follow exactly - the game also provides a few hints on how to do things like jump. Don’t stop to look around, you are being chased. Don’t worry, you are not meant to be lost. This is pretty easy to do.
After running, jumping and sliding for awhile you hit a Wolfen camp. Follow Aton’s advice and sneak thru the camp with him. Run some more, fly a bit, and stop for another movie. Aton tells you how to be bait and lure the Wolfen blocking your path into a trap. (hint: remember this spot).
After the Wolfen is nailed Aton tells you to follow him again. Eventually you end up in Nativ City – watch some more movies. Atea (the old one) tells you about Brazul and what the nativs have been dealing with (being captured and turned into Wolfen) and that Brazul (bad guy) has your brother Frank. He also tells you that you need to collect the runes to return home, then he takes you to a Training Center so you can learn some basic attacks to assist you on your quest(s).
When you successfully complete the attacks you are being taught the last straw dummy turns out to be a real Wolfen, fight him until he is knocked out. Then Atea decides to give you the power to free the Wolfen, explains mana and how to exorcise Wolfen so they become nativs again. You also get your first bracelet here.
You need to go buy your first boomie, follow the flashing yellow arrows in Nativ City (near the big amber) and floating mana ball which leads you to a section of grass with green spikey dudes. Avoid them but collect all the nooties (gold floating things) and make you way across the bridge to the shop on the other side. Buy the boomie (10 nooties you just collected) and exit the shop – behind the shop are 3 crates, smash them with the boomie and collect more nooties and mana – 2 green guys are in the crates, nail them with the boomie while you are smashing the crates. Go back and nail the rest of the green guys for more mana/nooties remembering where you are, you can always come back here for mana and nooties as they refresh every time you leave Nativ City. There are also 3 green guys under the ramp to the slide down to the lower level of Nativ City. While you are here, next to the shop you just left is a fenced in place with a door. Hit the green target with your boomie to open the door – inside ½ way to the left is a rock holding up a bridge – throw your boomie at the rope to break it and lower the bridge, this is a shortcut to and from the shop you were just at. Go in the building and talk to the nativ, this starts a mini game where you need to collect certain animals for his zoo, in the order he tells them to you, and he pays you for them. Pay close attention to the picture as they are specific creatures that resemble other common ones in the game but the common ones are not the right ones. If you don’t have the right creature you cannot capture it, they don't always appear in the game right away either - the first one (blue micken) is in Nativ City - the crater with the air cannon and mini game which requires 100 mana to open.
2) FLYING FOREST: Goal = Blue Egg Items needed = Boomie
Follow the arrows to the forest, use your boomie from a distance to hit one of the white flower puffs blocking your way, and go thru and take the elevator. Go to the sign (square to read), hit the spiders with your boomie, then grab the edge (it tells you how) and cross the gap.
On the other side is 1 Wolfen, pretty easy to beat up. After the Wolfen, look for the air vent (going up) and jump in it, this will carry you up to a ledge, slide down it and collect mana. At the bottom of this slide get some nooties then take the wind tunnel again, this takes you up and you will see another flower – land on it. These cushion your fall so you don’t take damage or die. Now you are back where you started.
Go straight (past where the Wolfen was) and see a building with more Wolfen (2) in front. Sneak [L2] up behind the boxes and when close to the Wolfen jump out from behind and nail them. Watch the ledge, if they fall over you have to die or go back to Nativ City to get them back. Be sure to exorcise them. Get the crates (nooties) then look at the building, to the Right are some boxes in front of the fence, jump up those to get to the other side. Stand on the button in the ground facing the other fence (opening the door), use your boomie to knock down the bee hive and lure a micken out. Then walk/kick the micken on to the button you were standing on so you can go into the next area, get the crates then take the ones leading to the roof of the building (more mana). Drop down into the hole in the roof and get the map. There is one of these maps in every domain, getting them marks where the Wolfen are located in that domain, very handy.
Hint: To view your map hit [L1] at any time, use the Left stick to move around the map and the Right stick to zoom in and out. If you hit ‘X’ here you switch to a world map where you can select any domain you’ve been to and view that map as well.
There is a switch in the room, pull it to open the door. You can go refill with the amber if necessary, but go back to the start of this section (near amber).
Now – facing the building from the amber – to your right is a wood bridge and a depression with wind, jump into the wind and let it push you forward (use X to push away from any walls you are stuck on).
When you land you will see amber and a noisy bomb machine facing the amber. Get close enough to hit the machine with your boomie so it spits out a bomb, leave it where it lands, this bomb will blast away a pile of rocks in your way just past the amber. You need another bomb, but this one you have to run/kick to the 2nd set of rocks to get rid of them. Once that is clear take the path. Straight you will see a higher cliff, some purple thorny vines and some more Wolfen (3), to your Right you should see a mana ball in the wall, go there and sneak [L2] thru the tunnel into a cave with crates, bonus mana and nooties and a few green guys. Go back out.
Walk up to the raised cliff and ‘X’ to grab the edge (like before). Take the edge to the Left (watch the spider) past the fence, jump up and sneak behind to the back wall, all the way over to the cannon, get up close behind it before you stand and get the Wolfen from the cannon then jump on it and ‘use’ it to shoot the other Wolfen or you can fight them.
After you get the Wolfen use the cannon to shoot the rocks blocking the wind tunnel. Take the wind tunnel up to a much higher level. Up here you will see a floating ring of nooties, go for them but as soon as you do 2 more Wolfen attack… get ‘em. After this continue forward to another room and 2 more Wolfen. Sneak up behind the boxes and get them by surprise (watching ledge). Use a bomb to break the rocks and uncover a platform, get on the platform and hit the switch with your boomie to activate it.
At the top are 4 more Wolfen, nail them. Use the boomie to break the rope holding the rock and drop another bridge (this happens often), take the path to the blue whale beast, get close enough to hit him with your boomie (you will need to take a hit or two from him) but keep hitting him (several times) to get rid of him. Behind him you will see vine walls, you can’t climb here until you have your climbing gloves – look Right and find the wooden floating platforms, jump down these. As soon as you land on the ground start throwing your boomie, there are a bunch of green guys after you. Nail them all. Get life if necessary, past them is another Wolfen (4) camp. Get to the platform, a movie will show you what you need to do to get the Egg. Look around on the ground, behind corners. There are crates and an amber hiding.
Once you get the egg it hatches and you have a chat with Atea, follow ‘Stuff’ and he will show you exactly where to go. Use a bomb, run it down the platform and kick, to get rid of the rocks blocking the path.
Hint: when jumping the on the grass over the green lake aim for the center of the next one but don’t jump until you are at the edge of the one you are on.
On the other side is a shell elevator (open it) and a bridge (lower it). If you view your map you will see that there is more to do in this domain, but you can’t do it yet. You need some items that should be waiting for you back in some new shops in Nativ City. You should also have a bunch of nooties now to purchase the new items with. Take the elevator back to Nativ City.
3) FLYING FOREST: Goal = Receptacle Items Needed = Magic Board
After getting the board, go back to where you found the egg.
To the side, near the bomb machine, is the start of a slide. Go for it, now that you have the board you can jump the root blocking your path.
At the bottom is a shell elevator, open it then use the micken (push him to the wall) and jump on his head to get high enough to get up on the wall (use X to jump higher). Hit the 2 blue pods close to you with your boomie, let them do their thing then run past them then hit the next one in your path and get past it.
Next you will see a micken with mana floating around it… look to the right and find the rope/rock/bridge, lower the bridge and run/kick the micken across. At the end of the bridge is more blue pods, whack them then get the micken to the wall and use it to jump again.
Take the wind vent and use X to ‘jump’ in the wind and go Up the wall, where there is a Wolfen waiting for you. Nail him and jump up the next ledge (don’t go where the wind is). To your left you will see a white button in the ground, step on it and follow the instructions. There is another button to get after that. What you are doing is luring the micken past the wind while you stop the wind from blowing him off by stepping on the buttons.
Once he’s to the wall use the step ledge to get down and then use the micken to jump high enough to get to the next platform.
Hint: push the micken to the back corner near the wall so you don't land on a spider at the top.
Stand back and nail the spiders with your boomie, get life from the amber if necessary, then stand on the platform at the next wall and hit the switch with your boomie to go up.
Look Right and see more pods, hit each side once and run thru them – jumping at the end to the next set – run thru again and jump onto the wooden floating platform. Jumping, take the platforms to the next area where your going to get launched over the thorns. Stand on the vine covered hole and hit the switch with your boomie. You get a Wolfen warning when you land, go straight to the wall and right, hugging the wall, to the switch, hit the switch and the Wolfen is launched into outer space.
Get on the platform, hit the switch to activate. At the top is a Wolfen who’s facing away from you. Sneak up behind him and give him a good whack or two. There is another bridge after him cross it, remember that Wolfen you launched? He’s on his way back and lands in the middle of the bridge breaking it. No worries, he also knocked himself out... exorcise him then go to the other side of the broken bridge and jump/climb up (‘X’ – no gloves needed here).
There is a room and Wolfen to the left and a room with amber ahead of you. If you have gloves you can do the room, if not you need to come back later.. (more on this later too).
Go to Left towards room and get the Wolfen then the crates inside. Go just outside and get the micken waiting for you, take him into the room and use him to jump up thru the hole you usually fall down thru to get to the roof (put him in the right back corner area). Take the bridge to the next room and fall in, get crates and switch to open the door. Use micken to get back up and take the bridge to the next building. Drop in, open the door (switch) get crates, etc. Take the air cannon to a new area (look for flower in your path). Land, open another elevator (2 blue whales to the right of the air cannon). There is a climbing wall to the right from where you landed but it’s blocked right now. Get crates, nooties and such – take out the whales. Where the whales were is steps, go up them and drop into a cave thing w/ 2 sets of amber. Watch a movie then get ready to slide again.
This is a tricky slide. As you go memorize the path and watch what’s coming up. There are a lot of jumps, rocks to dodge, vines to jump but you need to get to the end. At the end you’ll land in a dead end. Get life if you need it. Go the only way you can and fight some Wolfen (3), exorcise them. Continue on path (the brown rocks on ground) at the turn is a blue whale, nail him. Stand at the center of the wooden platform behind him (a bit darker) it’s a button that starts the moving platform, get on when it gets to you and it will carry you to the other side and the nest. Go in the nest and get the receptacle, watch another movie, then open the elevator just past the nest. Take the elevator back to Nativ City. If you don’t have the climbing gloves yet you definitely need them now.
After you get gloves and whatnot at Nativ City go back to Roots and get the rune.
4) ROOTS: Goal = Open elevators / Rune Items needed = Climbing Gloves
Find the wooden gate (hit green target to open) and take the elevator outside.
Jump off the ledge, landing on the flower (right below the center of the ledge). Kick a micken in between the vines blocking the path to trigger the traps covering the floor there, once the trap is out of the way jump over the vine (avoiding the other traps) and get to the other side. Now you will see a bridge with a Wolfen on the other side facing you. Run across the bridge, dodging the bombs he shoots at you. Attack him as soon as you are close enough and take him out. Continue down the path, there are 3 spiders that spit blue flame at you, you need to hit them with you boomie a couple times to get rid of them while dodging the blue flame. Just past them is a shell elevator, open it but don’t take it. From the elevator turn (look) around and find the path – it breaks into 2, one up and one down. The lower leads to amber and a mana spider beast with 2 birds. Hit the birds (once each) then the mana beast in the center, he’ll spit out mana balls. Keep hitting the birds to knock them out and the beast until your mana is full.
Go back and take the upper path now, this leads you back to the first slide you took with Atea.
Here you have a choice.
a) If you don’t have the receptacle, take the slide turning like before with Aton. At the end of this leg of the slide is another shell elevator (to the right) and the entrance to that Wolfen camp (to the left) you sneaked through with Aton. Open the elevator and then go back into the camp.
b) Start the slide and notice when the walls go red, you’re coming up to a fork. If you have your board you can go straight (where you need to go to get the Rune but only if you have the receptacle or if you just want to open the elevator) by jumping the root blocking your path at the fork. (you can’t jump without the board). Watch where you are going, there are roots to avoid and holes to jump. This takes you to a new area. When you stop you will have another elevator (you only need to do that once!) Open it.
a) Wolfen camp: Just inside the camp entrance go immediately right, up the steps like you did with Aton. At the top is 4 crates, smash them and use your boomie on the rope holding the bell. Then get on the cannon and shoot at the Wolfen on the ground. There are 3 or 4 and they take about 2 hits each. Look and listen, some are walking around but they will show themselves eventually in one way or another. There is one to the left under the wood bridge you took before, 1 under the wood bridge on the right, 1 just past it and possibly 1 below you. Once you have them all (or think you do) get off the cannon and go thru the hole in the roof. Get the Wolfen map; use the switch to open the door. Be careful going out the door, use your telescope to look and see if you see anymore Wolfen. If you do, climb back up to the cannon (look at the walls inside the room for the climbing stuff) and shoot him too. Now you are free to walk around, get the crates, etc.
Moving on, past the building are the step things you jumped up. Go there and take this path to the moving wooden platforms, jump up to the top by alternating platforms. At the top is an air shaft, take it (looking familiar?) next is the tunnel with the spiders, nail them with your boomie (keep throwing it as you walk – it even goes around corners, an auto-target kinda deal.) You end up in the spot they broke the ground you fell through. You can walk around the edge and look out and down and see the shell elevator that lead to the rune. Jump into the hole again and take the flight again. (hint: when the air shoots you up and you have to ‘fall’ to the next air vent wait until you are at the top of the current one to go for the next.) After you land, take the air cannon and do the 2nd part of the fall again (hint: don’t touch the controls until she actually starts falling). This takes you back to where you taunted the Wolfen. Go to the Right, the yellow X, and keep going to the 2nd room. There is a green target on the wall, hit it with your boomie, past that is another shell elevator and some mana.
b) Rune: Look around for the fence. There will be 4 switches under 4 boxes with symbols and a gate to the right of them. Walk up to the switches and look to the Left. You will see the rune! Use your telescope to zoom in and view the symbols above the rune, then use the switches to change the symbols in the fence to match. The gate will open when you have it correct.
Inside the gate you will see a bunch of micken and traps on the floor. Kick the micken into the traps, you will need 3 total but don’t worry if you can only get 2 now (the 3rd is trap hard to get to). Let them go on their merry way. Now look for the pillar with the climbing netting on the side. Climb up, at the top is another trap – get into it and let it carry you across the gap to where the micken went. When you get to the other side use [square] to release yourself and then your boomie to release the micken with you. If you don’t have 3 you need to go back for the rest. Look around; there is a new fence with a platform to the Right. Kick the micken onto the platform. Behind you and to the left (at the edge of the gap near the wall) is another platform, climb up and take the trap back to the side you just came from. Get another micken into a trap and take the trap ride back, repeat step to get micken onto platform. When you have 3 on there, jump on yourself. The door will open.
There are 2 Wolfen with laser guns inside to the right on a wooden ledge. Sneak [L2] along the left wall all the way to the back and the rune. Get the rune, just walk up to it. Now you are on the opposite end of the area and the ramp the Wolfen are on. From this end sneak up to the ramp, there is a cubbyhole area under the ramp with 2 crates, get them then go back to the edge. Grab [X] (but don’t go up) the ramp edge and adjust your camera view so you can see the Wolfen. When you are comfortable, and the Wolfen isn’t looking, jump up and knock him off the ramp. He’ll be knocked unconscious for you by the fall (hint, use this wherever you can with them) then immediately jump down and go back to the cubby hole, the other Wolfen should be off the ramp and coming after you on the ground, if he’s not walk along the ramp until you get to him and then show yourself to get him to come, then run back to the cubbyhole area. He goes basically crazy now. He runs back up the ramp, adjust your camera so you can see the show, and runs around in circles above you for a few until he either jumps off or falls off the ramp knocking himself unconscious. Exorcise away.
Your mana level should now be 100 instead of 50.
Back where the rune was, near the wall, is a air cannon. Jump in and take a flight back to the other side and the shell elevator, be sure to land on the flower.
Roots should be completed now. Check your map to be sure then go back to Nativ City via the elevator.
