new pics added, evening sun (that's the pink dot in the sky) and night time backfire/flare up?
This is a leaf, that is burned to ash, that was laying on the ground outside my door. It looked like a solid leaf, veins and all, but when you touched it it disintegrated. There are others but this was the best picture I got.
There are some shots I attempted to get of the fire at night but I don't have zoom and they really didn't come out well so I tried to point out what was what with text. They are taken from the same place as the first set at 11am ish (the back of my apt building). What you can't see is the detail we do. Maddison thinks it looks like lava, she's kinda right it certainly moves like it when we were watching it.

Simi Valley, Chatsworth Fire Oct 27th 2003
So, around 11am I'm watching the news telling me that the winds are dying down - as out my window they are kicking up to the worst they've been all day. So, having to go out I decided to take my digital with me and shoot some pic's - as you can see in about the hour I was gone the fire flared up and spread. Yep, forget Marlboro Country - this is Fire Country right now.. one of many in SoCal. In the later pics you can see a reddish/orangish glow in the smoke, that would be the reflection of the fire.
Funny thing is right now I'm listening to the goober telling us the winds were dying down make excuses as one of the anchors nails him due to callers telling them he was full of it and reality was just the opposite.. about time, very little reported is overly accurate so far. I'm sure the stats are good but all day yesterday they kept making it sound like the Simi fire was at the opposite end when in reality it was on my end (the end closest to me and where some very good friends live), one friend's backyard opens to one of the many golf courses in Simi (on this end) and at 10am yesterday they were hosing down their house while packing to evacuate. Yep, good reporting there.
So, right now I'm watching and waiting to see where this turns, they are announcing mandatory evacuation of Box Canyon and the Chatsworth Lake area where other friends live and basically my daughters dance school is, won't be going to dance today.
